QLD:LNP put asbestos in schools: Bligh

CAIRNS, Jan 16 AAP - The Queensland government and opposition are trying to blame one
another for the discovery of asbestos in a high school science kit in the state's north.

Students at a Townsville high school discovered trace amounts of asbestos rock in a
20-year-old mineral kit.

Queensland Education director-general Julie Grantham said the kits would be removed
and safely disposed.

Opposition education spokesman Bruce Flegg said the government had not done enough
to ensure student safety.
