All four results were possible with 20 minutes to go in Buxton 1st XI's gripping encounter at Scot Hay, who are also candidates for the promotion shake-up at the end of the season.
However, the fall of two quick wickets led to the Bucks calling off the run chase, skipper Jim Wilson and Matthew Eyre holding out comfortably for the draw.
Buxton were hampered by the absence of David Dodd with a slight pull, but this did not dissuade Wilson from inserting the home side on a lively, grassy track.
With short boundaries, the home batsmen threw the bat hard from the start and several edges flew tantalisingly wide of fielders.
