WA: Two confirmed dead at site of midair crash=2

A police spokesman said the pilot and a passenger in the light aircraft were dead but
had no further details.

The bodies had not been moved from the crash site, he said.

"The two survivors had only minor injuries but they will automatically be taken to
hospital for checking," he said.

"They probably arrived there about 9.30am, 10am this morning."

Both aircraft were involved in a feral goat control program in the Kennedy Range National
Park and it is understood the pilots of the helicopter and the plane were contractors.

A flight by AusSAR last night detected an emergency beacon coming from the crash site,
which is in an area inaccessible to cars.

A rescue helicopter, with two pilots, two paramedics and one police officer on board,
left Carnarvon at 7am today and arrived at the crash site at about 8am local time (10am
AEDT).

A police spokeswoman said police believed the helicopter managed to land after the
collision but the plane crashed.

A second helicopter was sent to seal off the area ahead of an investigation by the
Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
