ACT: Scientist develops natural locust control

A rare native fungus which helps control locusts .. has delivered a CSIRO scientist
a nomination for one of Australia's most prestigious science awards.

Dr RICHARD MILNER studied a rare native fungus .. called Metarhizium .. and developed
it into an environmentally friendly control against plague locusts.

His development has been rewarded with a nomination in the Eureka Prize .. awarded
for using scientific research to help the environment.

The winner will be announced later this month.
